Westshore Pet Clinic’s Team
DR. MARTIN KLEIN
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) | Owner/ Operator
Dr. Martin Klein was born and raised on Vancouver Island. Becoming a veterinarian was a dream come true for him. He obtained his biology degree at the University of Victoria. Afterwards, he graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon in 2012.
Dr. Klein practiced on the mainland for a couple of years, eventually moving back to Vancouver Island with his family. In 2014, he became an associate veterinarian at Glanford Animal Hospital and its sister clinic, Thetis Heights Animal Hospital. After contributing to the successful opening of Fernwood Vet Clinic in 2019, Dr. Klein decided to branch out on his own and open Westshore Pet Clinic.
Martin, his wife, and their two sons enjoy living in Langford. When not working, they visit hockey rinks and explore the West Coast.
CALLIE
Veterinary Receptionist
Callie was born and raised in a small town in Manitoba. After working in various other industries, she realized her passion was working with animals. After graduating from the Veterinary Office Assistant program through Robertson College in 2017, Callie obtained a position at a small veterinary clinic in Stonewall, MB. In June 2019, Callie and her boyfriend decided to move to Vancouver Island. Upon moving to the Island, Callie was offered a receptionist position at VCA Canada Central Victoria Veterinary Hospital shortly after she was promoted to Client Care, where she remained until joining our team here.
Callie and her boyfriend live with their two cats, Pickles and Junior, and their eyelash-crested gecko, Cinnamon. In their free time, they enjoy exploring local trails and soaking in the beauty of Vancouver Island.
DR. KARI HILSEN
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)
Dr. Kari Hilsen was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan. Kari graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2014 and started her career working with small/companion animals in Alberta.
Dr. Hilsen's love of the outdoors had her moving west to lay down roots on Vancouver Island. Since making the big move to the Island in 2017 she has practiced in Nanaimo and the Cowichan Valley. In 2024 Dr. Hilsen joined our experienced veterinary team at the Westshore Pet Clinic.
Dr. Hilsen's professional interests include preventative medicine, soft tissue surgery, and dentistry.
When not working, Dr. Hilsen is an avid outdoor enthusiast and can often be found somewhere on a trail with her partner Kent and her dogs (Izzy, Daisy, and Juniper - all Golden Retrievers), working in her yard or exploring local hidden gems. Along with her doggy Golden girls, she is the proud mom of a cat name Rockstar and four plant destroying chickens that keep life very exciting and full of laughs.
